Seville, Spain 19th – 21st October 2023
As associates of AESBA,every year we organize and attend to the weekend-convention, last
year in Seville.
First day we assisted to the General Assembly, in the Parliament of Andalusia.
The speech was led by the counselor of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio
Sanz, who highlighted the essential role played by the auxiliary services provided by the
150 attending companies.
After visiting this emblematic building that in the 16th century was the old Hospital de
las Cinco Llagas or Hospital de la Sangre, we went to have lunc to Manolo León
restaurant.
Upon arriving at the Hotel Ribera de Triana****, we took the opportunity to rest a little
bit and prepare ourselves for the last leg of the day: evening at the Abades restaurant,
where the most exclusive dishes in Seville are served with views of La Torre del Oro.
The second day we had the pleasure of attending the Navigation Pavilion with fantastic
professional guides who explained us the most outstanding human, scientific and technical
aspects of the world of navigation: from the physical principles that allow navigation to
the main contents of the history of Atlantic navigation. In addition, we climbed to the
top of the tower, 50 meters high, from where we could locate the main historical
buildings and get a clear idea of what Seville was like centuries ago.
We continue the morning with two more visits: the Naval Museum of the Torre del Oro and
the Archive of the Indies.
Before becoming a museum, La Torre del Oro was used as a chapel, nobles’ prison,
gunpowder warehouse, offices of the Port Captaincy and the Naval Command.
The General Archive of the Indies fundamentally guards the funds produced by the
institutions created by the Spanish Administration for the government and administration
of the Spanish overseas territories, including those related to the Spanish colonies in
America and Asia.
Finishig midday at the San Marco Santa Cruz restaurant, an Italian restaurant located in
some old and preserved Arab baths from the 12th century.
We return to the hotel to get ready for the last evening. We saw the sunset rided by
horse-drawn carriage that showed us Seville from another perspective and rhythm.
To end the trip, we had dinner on the banks of the river at Muelle 21 restaurant and
celebrated the end of the party with a fire show in the space reserved in Machiavelo.
Thank you all!
Looking forward to the next year.
